Photo of the Week: Luxor Temple, Egypt

Luxor Temple at night - Luxor, Egypt

Luxor Temple, Egypt

The best time to visit Luxor Temple is at sunset.  As the sun falls, the glowing light magically illuminates the ancient hieroglyphics found throughout the magnificant temple.  Giant statues and columns dominate the structure, giving you an odd sense of insignificance.

It is a special place that must not be missed while in Egypt; even though you’ll be joined by hundreds of other tourists.  There is something very cool about being in a temple that is thousands of years old.

Travel Tip:  Do NOT follow uniformed tourist police to “best picture spots” or have them explain the hieroglyphics to you – they will politely try to extort money from you (and they carry big guns).  You’re best to simply smile and move on.
