Photo of the Week: The Magical Taj Mahal

Taj Mahal B&W

The Taj Mahal needs little introduction. It’s India’s fabled mausoleum and one of the world’s most popular tourist attractions. Though it does attract the crowds, it certainly lives up to its lofty expectations. It truly is a magical place that leaves you speechless at first glance.

After flipping through over 200 photos we chose this photo because it provides a unique angle of the white marbled Mughal monument, rather than the standard view with the reflection ponds in the front.

Travel Tip: Show up at sunrise when the doors first open.

Why, you ask? The Taj Mahal is made of marble, so it reflects light in unique ways and actually changes shades of colour at sunset and sunrise. Tour buses show up later in the day and most people have no trouble attending a sunset. Let’s be honest, many tourists don’t want to wake up at 5:00 AM while on vacation – so avoid the crowds and get there earlier for prime viewing and photography conditions!
