Travel Lesson: Check Thailand Weather Forecast Before Boarding Ferry!
Click on the short video clip below.
.
We were traveling from Trat to the lush jungle island of Koh Chang in Thailand, located just west of the Cambodian border.
When we arrived at the ferry terminal the air was humid and moist, with heavy clouds collecting on the horizon. The ferry left the dock on schedule, with no warnings of an impending storm. We met a fun English couple and began swapping travel stories on the covered upper deck of the rapidly aging vessel.
Without warning, we were hit with fierce winds and an insane amount of rain.
As you can see from the video, we were battered by the strong winds and drenched by the horizontal rain. Keep in mind, we were in the middle of the upper deck covered by the roof. The rain and wind were so strong that the sheltered area was of little protection from nature’s wrath.
Luckily we only had to endure the choppy water for another 20 minutes. Thinking back, it probably wasn’t the smartest idea, given that Thailand is not widely known for its high safety standards.
Sometimes you just have to go with the flow and hope for the best!

I loved the video! I actually live on Koh Chang and one of the in-jokes I have is that you get three raindrops warning before the skies deluge opens up!
Sorry to see get soaked, but then again no ferry has ever gone down either!
Drop me a line if you ever come back and I will show you some better times than that!
I really love the video you have shared, this is interesting to catch photos regarding to upcoming storm , weather , its kind of scary. but I think it is fun.
