We met an American couple who were visiting the remote island to get married. They informed us that it would be a traditional Polynesian ceremony located directly in front of the infamous Moai statues.  We couldn’t pass on the rare opportunity to witness how another culture performs its wedding ceremony.

Though technically a part of Chile, Easter Island is filled with Polynesian roots. The tribal dance and singing went on for about 10 minutes. If you look closely, there is a 3 year old dancer trying to keep up with the adults. She was very cute.

The mysterious statue in the backdrop created an unforgettable setting that reminded us just how far away from home we were.
