Are the holidays really already over? I guess that means that it’s time for the first installment of the #FollowFriday FIVE for 2011!
What is #FollowFriday?
In the world of twitter, hashtags (#) allow you to follow specific tweets from groups of users that also use the same hashtag (For example, #travel or #music ).
#FollowFriday (also hashtagged as #FF) has evolved into the weekly day of twitter promotion. It’s an opportunity for tweeters to share who they’ve been following, and also an opportunity to find new twitter people with similar interests.
With that in mind, we’ve created the Follow Friday Five, our weekly endorsement of travel sites and tweeters that we’ve enjoyed following from the travel blog community. It’s our way of giving a little back to those that have supported us along the way!
Here are this week’s FIVE:
Over Yonderlust
Shaun and Erica are childhood sweethearts traveling the world. They are about to learn on an extended journey through Central and South America.

Hey Cam and Nicole,
Since I am VERY new to Twitter, I was and still am puzzled when yesterdays someone tweeted my post with this tag. When I clicked on it, it was even more confusing, lol. Anyway, thanks for the brief explanation on this hash tag!

Hi Priyank
Twitter can take a little getting used to. If you’re not using TweetDeck or HootSuite (or something similar) it will be difficult to know what’s going on with all the hashtags, replies and retweets. Check one of them out if you’re not and give it a try (we use TweetDeck). Any by all means, feel free to send a msg if you have any Q’s!
