Photo of the Week: Architectural Marvel on the Danube

Budapest Parliament Building, Hungary

Hungarian Parliament Building in Budapest

Often labeled as the finest example of medieval architecture in Eastern Europe, the Hungarian Parliament Building in Budapest is simply spectacular. As the building’s reflection sparkles off the Danube River, it’s easy to see how it has gained its reputation.

We got lucky that evening. The weather had not been cooperating during the day but by sunset the skies had cleared, creating a fantastic deep blue backdrop. The bright lights that illuminate the giant gothic dome do an excellent job of showcasing the building’s dominant presence.

The Budapest Parliament building remains as one of our favourite buildings in all of Europe.
