Greetings from Victoria on Victoria Day!
How fitting, we’re spending the Victoria Day long weekend in Victoria, British Columbia’s picturesque capital city.
We never tire of visiting Vancouver Island. Every time we return for a visit we relive old memories from our university days. Victoria plays an important role in our lives because its where we met each other for the first time. It’s hard to believe it’s been almost 10 years since that awkward first date!
On our last trip, we wrote about 7 things you should do in Victoria and shared our incredible whale watching experience. This time around, we’ve been invited by the good people at the Delta Ocean Pointe Resort and Spa to checkout the newly renovated hotel and enjoy the scenic waterfront views from its Lure Restaurant and Lounge.

This long weekend is all about relaxing and spending time together as a trio. Were going to take Baby B swimming in the hotel pool (always fun) and cruise around the city, soaking up Victoria’s peaceful waterfront and bouncing around the harbour in a water taxi. We’ll also be making a few visits to local breweries to sample some tasty craft beer.

Victoria for Victoria day sounds perfect. I really loved the city. I didn’t do much but stroll around the harbor and eat delicious seafood, which is always a highlight for someone from Alberta.
Even just strolling the harbour is a great outing, especially in the summer when there’s so much going on.
My favorite memory is of the seal who visits at fisherman’s wharf…I’d never seen one that close before.
We stopped by to check out the seals too and this time there were 7! All eagerly awaiting their next meal.
Had no idea that Victoria was the capital city of BC. Victoria Day is to do with the queen rather than BC I guess, but no one I’ve met in Canada actually seems to really know where the public holiday comes from – just that most people don’t have to go to work for the long weekend!
A lot of people don’t know that Victoria is the capital. Most think it’s Vancouver (which makes sense since it’s the largest city in BC).
Butchart Gardens and Craigdarroch Castle were two of my favorite places to visit in Victoria.
Both very good choices
Haven’t been to Victoria since before we had kids – will have to get back there soon with them. My younger daughter and I spent Victoria Day weekend in Ottawa – another great spot for a long weekend!
Absolutely! Ottawa would be perfect too. Victoria is a very kid friendly city since there is so much to do.
