Photos of the Detroit Skyline from Windsor, Ontario

We captured these photos of the Detroit River and city skyline last week, while on an impromptu trip to Windsor. I used to live in Windsor many years ago but this was Nicole’s first visit to Windsor, so it was nice to finally introduce her to a city that occupies many of my childhood memories. In fact, Windsor is the city where I was born, although I hadn’t returned in over 20 years!

This trip to Windsor was due to a personal family matter, so we weren’t there for typical traveling purposes (it’s not exactly a tourist hotspot, though it’s easy to find a variety of cheap holiday deals). As a tourist, there’s not a whole lot to do in Windsor (or Detroit for that matter). It’s an economically depressed city that’s known as a university party town, attracting bus loads of American teenagers from neighbouring Michigan – the drinking age limit in Canada is 19 years old but it’s 21 years old in the United States (you do the math).

But Windsor does have spectacular riverside parks and fantastic panoramic views of the Detroit city skyline!
