An update, an award and another giveaway

We’ve got another great giveaway for you today! But first, a quick update.

As I write this blog post, we’re in Nanaimo (a seaside town on the east coast of Vancouver Island in British Columbia) preparing for our boys’ first Easter hunt. We can’t wait to see the look on their little faces as we send them on a wild chase for colorful eggs and chocolate bunnies.

We’ve been a little quiet over here the past few weeks; and for good reason. Nicole has taken an exciting new job at an organization she’s been wanting to be a part of for years – so there’s been some big adjustments on the home front. Because of her new position, our travels will likely be limited over the next few months – which is actually just fine with us because British Columbia is THE place to be during the summer months.

Next week, I’ll be visiting the city of Boston for the first time.

I’ve heard great things about Beantown and hope to take in as many sights as I can during my short stay. I’ve also scored tickets to the Boston Red Sox home opener, so I will finally be able to cross off ‘watch a Red Sox game at Fenway Park’ from my bucket list. I’ve dreamed of visiting Fenway Park since I was a little boy – so I’m super excited to visit this legendary stadium.

Do you have any tips or advice for a first time visitor to Boston? Share your thoughts in the comments section below – I’d love to hear from you.

Earlier this year, we wrote a post about how we’re going to make 2015 great. One of my goals for 2015 was to visit 5 ski resorts this season. We managed to visit 3 ski resorts in 3 weeks, which was a lot fun, but we fell short of the goal by one (we managed to get a few visits to Whistler Blackcomb). It was an unseasonably warm winter and many of the coastal mountains we’re out of operation by early February – which made things quite challenging.

That said, this past winter will go down as one of our best yet. It reminded us that winter should be embraced, not escaped.

We had our best wedding anniversary to date in Lake Louise, we went ice climbing at Big White, we went dog sledding in the Canadian Rockies and we took our boys ice skating on a frozen lake in Jasper National Park.

Here are a few of our favorite photos from our winter adventures.

We won Best Canadian Weblog!!

We’re thrilled to have won the 2015 Bloggies award for Best Canadian Blog!

This award is quite the honor. There are thousands of Canadian blogs out there, so it’s quite humbling to be recognized by our readers and peers. We put a lot of time, energy and love into this travel blog, so it’s nice to know that our hard work and commitment has been received positively.

Thank you! Thank you! Thank you!

We are extremely thankful and appreciative for all of your support over the past 6 years. There have been times when we have considered shutting down this blog – juggling babies, careers, travel and online businesses can be overwhelming – but your continued support and encouragement has kept us going. We are forever grateful and thank you for that.

To give you some background, the Weblog Awards, also known as The Bloggies, are annual non-profit blog awards that have been presented since 2001. They are the longest running and one of the largest blog awards, with winners determined through internet voting by the public.
