What are the World’s Most Photogenic Cities?
The world is filled with amazing cities, each offering unique photo opportunities. Some have unique cultural attractions, amazing temples and incredible archeological sites. Others boast beautiful beaches, dramatic mountain views and contemporary skylines.
Although we believe every city has its beauty, there are some cities that have a knack for filling up your memory card much faster than the rest.
We’ve narrowed down our top selections using a simple formula – What cities had us the most “snap-happy”?
10 – LAS VEGAS, Nevada
The City of Sin kicks things off with its spectacular strip of hotel marvels. If the magnificent exteriors weren’t enough, the art and design in most hotels will blow your mind. The bright lights, glitz and glamour of Vegas presents some of the best night scene shots on the planet (no flash required!).
9 – HONG KONG, Hong Kong
Without a doubt, Hong Kong has one of the most photographed city skylines in the world. The enormous futuristic buildings combine with the lush mountain backdrop to create a dramatic setting that is unrivalled.
8 – BUENOS AIRES, Argentina
Buenos Aires is a photographer’s dream, with hundreds of heroic statues and monuments scattered throughout the Euro-inspired city. The colonial architecture, boutique cafes, grassy parks, elegant restaurants, colourful tango clubs and vibrant nightlife make this modern city one of South America’s best – if not the best?
7 – ISTANBUL, Turkey
Turkey’s cultural, political and economical capital is a fusion of old and new; tradition versus modernism. It’s where the East meets the West, where the Bosphorus Straight splits Europe and Asia. Ancient mosques and pointy minarets dominant the dense city skyline, producing spectacular sunset snapshots.
6 – VIENNA, Austria
Walking the Vienna Ring Boulevard presents countless architectural photo opportunities. Cobblestone streets with horse-drawn carriages, pedestrian plazas with outdoor cafes and restaurants, towering gothic cathedrals, historical buildings and museums, the infamous Danube River – there’s plenty to keep you busy in Austria’s vibrant capital.
5 – VANCOUVER, British Columbia
Vancouver is Canada’s most picturesque city with its green mountains, ocean beaches and compact modern skyline. As host of the 2010 Winter Olympic Games, Vancouver has jumped into the spotlight as a premier global destination – and for good reason! Head to Kitsilano, English Bay and the North Shore for spectacular city landscape views.
4 – PARIS, France
What can be said about Paris that hasn’t been said already? The Eiffel Tower, The Louvre, Moulin Rouge, Sacre Coeur and Notre Dame Cathedral offer postcard pictures, while original French architecture and the Seine River creates the perfect setting for romantic and artsy photography.
3 – PRAGUE, Czech Republic
Rounding out the Top 3 is the gem of the Czech Republic – Prague (Praha). Huge gothic cathedrals, medieval castles, animated gargoyles, detailed Christian statues on Charles Bridge, shiny cobblestone streets and a sea of red roofs and onion-shaped towers. Prague is a must visit for anyone that appreciates history, architecture, culture and stunning city views. Bring an extra memory card just to be safe!
2 – VENICE, Italy
Who hasn’t dreamed about touring Venice at least once in their lifetime? We are happy to report that Venice does not disappoint. One can get lost for hours in the tight network of alleyways and canals. Cathedrals and colourful heritage buildings line the canals, making for fantastic photo subjects. While rainbow bridges, romantic gondolas, gelato cafes and traditional pizza parlours offer visitors the quintessential Venetian experience.
And the Most Photogenic City goes to…
