The town of Omis on the Croatian Coast
Located on the shores of the Adriatic Sea in the Dalmatia region of Croatia, about 26 km southeast of Split, is a small coastal town named Omis. We had heard wonderful things about the Croatian Riviera and the natural beauty of the Balkan Peninsula, but we didn’t expect to see such steep, rocky mountain landscapes. It was a welcomed surprise!
We actually didn’t mean to visit Omis, stumbling on it while searching for a supermarket during our stay at a vacation rental just south of Split. This photo was taken at the mouth of the Cetina River, where it flows into the emerald-green Adriatic Sea.
If you’re ever on the Croatian coast, do your best to visit this quaint seaside town!
