Curious about what Belize looks like from the eyes of a Cessna airplane?
Well then, today is your lucky day! We’ve put together a short video from multiple flights over the coast of Belize and its pristine Belize Barrier Reef.
The combination of five short flights took us from the oceanfront airstrip of Placencia to the tiny airstrip of Caye Caulker, all within about 3 hours (including loading and unloading of other passengers).
To our surprise, the small aircraft was quite comfortable, with very little turbulence or sharp movements. Our original fear was that the tiny plane would bounce us around like an amusement park ride, but we were impressed at how smooth the flights were.
Not only are the tiny planes extremely convenient, the short flights served up some outstanding landscapes, making it an adventure on its own (click on the image above to watch the short video).

Do you like flying in small airplanes? What’s the most interesting plane you’ve been in?

Don’t know if I will have the courage to get into one of these (I don’t like flying at all). However, there is no doubt the views are incredible. Once I traveled from Puerto Rico to the Dominican Republic in a 747. The thing is that it was flying lower than usual. I was able to see all the Northen Coast of Puerto Rico from the plane. It is something I will never forget.
My dad flies small planes in Ohio (smaller than these ones, even!), but Ohio doesn’t really compare at all to Belize!
My favorite small-plane flight was in New Zealand, though. Seven-passenger Cherokee flying for an hour straight over the snow-capped Southern Alps between Milford Sound and Queenstown. One of the coolest things I’ve ever seen, for sure!
It does look like a paradise from the airplane, especially the first place you take off from ๐ I still haven’t flown on tiny Cessna, still on my bucket list.
I never tried to ride on any airplane ever since. I wonder what’s the feeling of having a jet lug? Well, Good luck on flying!
What a breathtaking view! I rode in a similar airplane over the Australian Outback a few years ago. The plane ride wasn’t too bad but man was it cramped!
What a great way to see the islands. We took a ferry to Caye Caulker when we visited and missed out on these views. Maybe next time we’ll plan on flying! ๐
Beautiful scenery from the air. especially in a smaller aircraft like a Cessna, such beautiful views over the waters of Belize. I flew in between camps in Africa in a Cessna, what a wonderful birds eye view we had of the wild animals from this little plane. Great way to travel.
Nice footage!
At 0:43 it looks like Hopkins, which you would see just before Dangriga.
Thanks Dave! Yea, you are probably right, it might be Hopkins.
What a gorgeous ride that is! ๐ Definitely encouraged to head down to Belize some time. I love flying, no matter the size of the plane, but I think the smaller ones are scarier when there’s turbulence.

I flew my bonanza from Vancouver BC down the west coast to Belize crossing the northern part of Guatemala then all of Belize for 3 months. Fantastic adventure.
