Flying Low Over Cairo, Egypt
We were fortunate to have clear skies during our approach to Cairo International Airport. It gave us some kick-ass views of the mega-city and allowed us to fully appreciate how massive it really is.
We also caught a glimpse of the Great Pyramids of Giza, which was probably the most incredible sight to witness from the passenger window of an airplane. The photo below is not the best quality because of the hazy smog and sandy air, but you get the idea!
.
What is the coolest thing you’ve seen from window seat of an airplane?

Cairo is a nice place and there are a lot of things where you can get perfect photos…Just like these ones…
I have a similar picture of the pyramids that we took when landing in Cairo. Very cool! What I like about flying into Cairo so low is that you really see how massive this city is.
Thanks for the interesting post, and excellent question. Last month I was on a bicycle tour of Vietnam. We flew from Hanoi to Hue to begin riding. Flying into Hue, I photographed the flat white land with lots of circles because it was visually so intriguing. After learning more about how Hue was destroyed by American bombs during the war, I realized the interesting circles were bomb craters. The photo is in the third row on this page 2 of “Vietnam Images” from my blog, “Bikes, Birds, and Beaches.”

that’s amazing that you got to fly right by the pyramids. I think the coolest thing I’ve ever seen from the window of an airplane is the grand canyon, but I didn’t have my camera ready unfortunately.
I got to see the mountains of Greenland on the way back to North America from Iceland in 1998, that was awesome!
