Exploring the Desert Plains of Wadi Rum, Jordan
Our friendly jeep safari driver parked his rugged 4X4 vehicle in the middle of the desert plains, just in time to catch the fiery sun set over Jordan’s spectacular Wadi Rum. There’s no need to worry about parking infractions when you’re isolated in the middle of no where.
Our group gathered around a small fire while our driver prepared a pot sweet tea. It was a surreal moment, surrounded by huge rocky mountains and endless desert. Aside from a few small bushes there were no signs of life in this barren wilderness.
I left the group and hiked to the top of a rock cluster in order to capture this special moment. It remains one of my favourite memories from our time in Jordan.

I just love this photo so much and I hope I can visit a great place like this and experience an adventure with my husband..
We appreciate the kind words Meygann!
Hopefully you’ll get a chance to experience Jordan someday very soon 🙂
This is amazing! I love the color of the red earth.
Funny, also. A friend of mine said that one of the first things she learned in Arabic was: “I have no water and I am in need of a camel.” Apparently, that’s the beginner language course. I didn’t quite understand the significance of learning that in colloquial Arabic… until I just read your post. 🙂
Hah! That’s funny Barbara.
I can totally see how that phrase would be taught… especially in that part of the world – it’s pretty barren and isolated.
