Photos of Memorable Hikes from our Travels
It’s been a while since we last participated in the weekly #FriFotos theme. My twitter feed was lit up this morning with links to cool photos of hikes from around the world. I was inspired.
It got me thinking about some of the wonderful hikes we’ve experienced over the past few years. As such, I went to my photo library and dug up a few photos from some of the more interesting and memorable hikes.

Great photos! Access to amazing hiking is one of the many reasons I moved to Colorado 🙂 its so hard to pick a favorite hike, but Mt. Elbert is up there, since it was my first 14er.
I don’t know what a 12er is? Do tell!
We haven’t yet made it to Colorado but hope to go snowboarding there soon
Cam & Nicole a 12er is basically a mountain that 12,000 feet high…they have some pretty awesome ones up in Colorado. Megan check out Independence Pass up near Aspen, Colorado. You’ll need to spend a good 2-3 day weekend exploring & camping in the area as there’s just so much to see but I promise you won’t regret it! 😉
Ah, good to know! Haven’t heard that terminology before. I learned something knew today!
Great photos! I have to get out to BC, haven’t been in ages (we’re in Montreal). I also think your Batad photo is incredible.
Some of our memorables:
The Berner Oberland, Switzerland: http://bbqboy.net/lauterbrunnen-and-the-berner-oberland-switzerland/
Reutte, Austria: http://bbqboy.net/reutte-austria/
A few hikes in the Saguenay area of Quebec:http://bbqboy.net/saguenay-river-region-quebec/
Keep up the good work!

Thanks for sharing Frank! Let us know if/when you make it to Vancouver. We’ll show a few great trails!
Wow. Great photos. It’s memories like this that make all the walking worth while. The walk in Banff National Park in Alberta looks amazing.
My favorite walk would have been one of the ones up and around Yellowstone Park trying not to be eaten by a bear 😛
Trying not to be eaten by a bear is a good strategy!
We haven’t made it to Yellowstone Park, but we’ve heard it’s fantastic. One day soon, I hope
Hiking is one of my fav parts of travel – great collection!
Thanks Andrea. We love to get outdoors as much as possible when we travel. It’s not always available, but when it is, you can bet that’s where we’ll be!
so gorgeous
Beautiful photos! I’m a big fan of hiking; just getting into the outdoors, seeing something new and smelling the fresh air does something to the body & the brain! Have you ever been to Sedona, Arizona? I just hiked there a few months back and visited the Bell Tower…had some amazing views and the energies were pretty intense!
Thanks Ron! Glad you like the photos. Haven’t yet been to Sedona, but Arizona is actually on our list for 2014, so hopefully we’ll squeeze in a hike.
What incredible adventures! I’d love to see all these places, but Easter Island and the Inca Trail are at the top of the list. There aren’t a whole lot of hiking opportunities in Shanghai.
We have not visited Shanghai yet but hope to in a couple years when our new baby is a little older. Yes, the Inca Trail hike is one of the most memorable from our travels. Very rewarding.
Wow! You two have been to some amazing places. Do you do things on your own or are you with a travel guide
We typically do things on our own. The Machu Picchu hike was with a tour, so was the Mount Sinai trek
It’s our “happy place”!
sigh…I want to visit them all. Great pictures! My favourite hike has been the Cape Breton Highlands. We saw two moose and watched the sun set from the skyline trail. It was perfect.
Wow, you have certainly hiked in some amazing places, and I would love to hike all of them! Hiking is right up there at the top of my list of things to, being outdoors surrounded by nature is my cup of tea. On of my favorite hikes is the Canyon Overlook Trail in Zion National Park. Not a difficult hike by any means but the payoff is tremendous when you reach the top and overlook magnificent Zion Canyon. Happy Travels!
You have some beautiful pictures. I can’t hike right now because I am still healing from a car wreck, but I want to hike again one day, Lord willing.
Looks like a great collection of hikes. Of the hikes listed, the most intriguing to me are Banff, Machu Picchu, and Lucerne.
