Shotover Jet in Queenstown, New Zealand
Loaded with adrenaline pumping activities, Queenstown is widely known as the adventure capital of New Zealand. From skydiving to bungy jumping to heli-tours, visitors to Queenstown have a buffet of outdoor adventures to choose from. One can easily drop $1,000 in a couple days on activities alone!
British Columbia has a lot of similarities to New Zealand, with Queenstown garnering a similar reputation to Whistler. Because of this, and because we visited New Zealand on a backpacker’s budget, we wanted to find a unique adventure that we couldn’t experience at home.
Labelled as “the world’s most exciting jet boat ride”, the famous Shotover Jet was up to the task.
What’s really cool about the jet boats is that they hover over a few centimeters of water, allowing them to skip across the river at top speeds. The skilled drivers speed within inches of the rocky canyon walls, spinning in circles and shredding through white water rapids.
It’s an intense ride!
