Peak 2 Peak Gondola in Whistler, British Columbia
This week’s travel photo comes from the top of Whistler Mountain, where we captured the world record breaking Peak 2 Peak gondola and the majestic Blackcomb Mountain landscape.
The Peak 2 Peak Gondola is a 28 cabin tri-cable gondola that connects Whistler Mountain to Blackcomb Mountain, traveling 3.03 kilometres (1.88 miles) across a valley. It holds the world records for (1) the longest free span between ropeway towers and (2) the highest point above the ground at 436 metres.
Whistler is easily our favourite Canadian destination because of its stunning mountain landscapes, endless outdoor adventure and chilled out alpine village atmosphere. It’s an awesome destination all year round, with world class skiing and snowboarding in the winter and epic mountain biking and hiking in the summer.
