Dubai Skyline from the Palm Monorail
This week’s travel photo is a throwback from our trip to Dubai back in 2009. We captured this photo while riding the newly opened Palm Monorail to the lavish Atlantis Resort on the infamous Palm Islands.
The aggressive city development in Dubai is absolutely mind-blowing. At the time of our visit, it was said that there were more construction cranes in Dubai than anywhere else in the world.
The section of new buildings you see in this photo isn’t even the main Dubai skyline – it’s actually a few miles to the left of this beachfront residential community.
I can only imagine how much this skyline has changed in the past 6 years. Craziness!
Check out these past weekly travel photos:
- The clifftop Village of Oia, Santorini
- Giant sand dunes of Huacachina Peru
- Heian Jingu Shrine in Kyoto, Japan
- Saint Catherine’s Monastery, Egypt
- The lively streets of Varanasi, India
