Chicago, Illinois
I visited Chicago last week for a few days to attend a regional meeting. I don’t travel very often with my job, but I’ve had a few opportunities to visit places like Fort Lauderdale, Florida and Louisville, Kentucky.
Most of my time was spent inside the hotel and attending meetings, but I did manage to sneak out one afternoon for some sightseeing and I joined a group of colleagues to watch the Chicago Bears play against the Minnesota Vikings at Soldier Stadium. I’m a huge NFL fan and Soldier Field is legendary, so this was a clear highlight of my trip.
I’ve been to Chicago a few times and it consistently ranks as my top 3 favourite cities in the United States (San Francisco and Portland are the other two). I love the old brick buildings and canals that split the downtown core. And yes, many slices of Chicago-style deep pizza were consumed. Too many, in fact.

Beautiful city, Chicago! I’ve been there when I attended the Women in Travel Summit last March (the other one was a 2 hour airport delay!) and must say the place is really great. Lots of place to go to and definitely one of those cities where you can find great food and yeah the deep dish pizza is one of them!
Chicago and San Francisco are my two favourite US cities too! Both are beautiful, have fantastic food and lots of outdoor spaces 🙂

I went to Chicago in July – I hadn’t been in over 20 years – and we must’ve been in the same areas as I have similiar photos to you. Especially the round building with the cars close to the river – a fascinating building in a fascinating city.
