Sun Peaks Ski Resort in Central British Columbia
Before each trip we take, I have grand intentions to improve my travel photography. I bring my big lens and my small lens, my tripod and my unipod, my time lapse intervalometer and a variety of camera accessories. I vow to experiment with my photography, to get better at shooting video and master the art of low light photography.
But, alas, the outcome seems to always be the same; I end up using my iPhone out of convenience. It’s not for lack of effort, but packing for a toddler and infant can be quite challenging at the best of times, so I often leave my clunky camera equipment in the hotel room. It’s a small sacrifice for my sanity.
Our latest winter adventure to Sun Peaks was no different. The good news is that it’s super easy to edit and upload photos from our trusty iPhone, so while we digest the good times we hadย at one of Canada’s top ski destinations, here are a few photos from our most recent trip.
Cruising the glades on Mt. Morrisey.
Dad and Braydon on the big chair.
Views of the European-style village from the tubing park.
Views of Sundance Mountain captured from a remote run named “Back in Time”, just before arriving at the legendary Burfield Chairlift – a 22 minute lift that once held the title of being the longest in Canada.
To Headwalls we go…
On top of the world. Morning landscapes at the top of Sundance Chairlift, high above a low hanging fog that has consumed the valley below.
An eerie fog swallows up the village. You can’t even see the buildings anymore.
Night snowshoeing excursion to a remote mountain camp, where plenty of sausages and smores were consumed.
Limited crowds, even on a Saturday in January – love it!
Big moment – Baby Connor about to go on his first sleigh ride.
That’s us at the back of the sleigh. It’s a fun tour through the snowy village and surrounding forest trails.
The lower part of the terrain park at the base of Sundance Mountain
A true Ski in and Ski out village. You can literally ski through the village streets – how cool is that?!
Braydon trying a few runs at the tubing park. He wasn’t a fan… maybe next year.

We had a great time. It’s been fun watching the two little guys grow with each new destination we introduce to them. We’ll be back to Sun Peaks next year for sure

I love your photos. Must admit the iPhone takes great shots. I tend to point, shoot and hope. I have got some awesome shots, and the rest i just delete. We are avid skiers, though Gordon went to the dark side and tried boarding for a while ๐ We love Nozawa Onsen in Japan, and are going there in 10 days. Then we fly straight to Austria and Switzerland – so will be an interesting comparison, especially culturally.

Thanks guys! Wow – sounds like a few epic adventures are on the horizon. We’ve never been snowboarding in Japan, so I’d love to read about your experience – be sure to come back and tell us (or share a link).
We visited the French Alps a few years ago and had a fantastic experience. The snow quality is great, and the village vibe is so much fun

It looks so quaint ๐

It really is. The village isn’t big, yet it’s big enough to have everything you might need.
