Iberostar Cancun Resort, Yucatán, Mexico

A few months ago I visited Mexico’s tourism capital to attend a conference that was hosted at the Iberostar Cancun Resort. This all inclusive beach resort is located in Cancun’s popular hotel zone.

This was a solo trip for work, so most of my time was spent inside the resort attending meetings and networking. In fact, come to think of it, the only time I left the resort was when I was transferring back to the airport for my flight home.

I spent 4 days / 3 nights at the resort. I visited at the end of June, which is considered to be the off season. It’s much more humid this time of year and the chance of rain is high.

It rained every day during my visit, but not for long. I didn’t mind though. I live in Vancouver, so I actually like a little rain. The rain actually helps wash away some of intense mid-day humidity.

If you’ve followed our travels over the years, you’ve likely seen a blog post or two about Mexico. We’ve visited about 5 times in the past 7 years. Mostly in the Cancun and Mayan Riviera region.

We were actually married at the Iberostar Parasio Del Mar Resort in the Mayan Riviera, located about 30 minutes south of Cancun. You can read our resort review here. We will be re-visiting this Iberostar property in February to celebrate our 10 year wedding anniversary. More on that later.

I enjoyed my time at the resort and would recommend it to others. The facilities are nice and the beach is well maintained. That said, I still prefer the Iberostar property in the Mayan Riviera.

Below are a bunch of photos I took of the resort and beach.

There is a dedicated kids pool with slides and a fun pirate ship. All of the main pools are located in the same area, so you don’t have to walk far or take a tram, like some of the other mega properties in the Yucatan.

The Japanese Restaurant is fun dining experience. Like most all inclusive hotels, you need to make dinner reservations ahead of time. You do not need to make reservations for the buffets.

Lots of open space on the beach. There was a good amount of loungers and umbrellas available.

This was the view from my private balcony. Some of the suites are located in separate 3-story buildings. Each building complex has a private pool for guests staying at that building. I enjoyed the privacy of this pool and spent most of my pool time here, instead of the main pools.

The main pool cascades down to the beach, giving it an infinity pool vibe.

How great is this suite?! I’m not sure what it costs to stay here but it has quite the pool and deck. See photo below.
